Pretty vs. Practical: Crafting Infused Oils That Endure

At Humming Hills Farm, we’re passionate about crafting infused extra virgin olive oils that taste amazing and stand the test of time. You’ve probably seen those gorgeous bottles of oil with dried herbs and spices floating inside—on Etsy, Amazon, or even at local markets. They’re eye-catching, no doubt! But as we’ve learned through our own process, there’s more to a great infused oil than meets the eye.

We use a heat-infusion method, carefully approved by a processing authority, to blend bold flavors into our extra virgin olive oil. The magic happens when we filter out the ingredients, leaving behind pure, smooth flavor without any bits or pieces. Why do we do it this way? It’s all about quality and longevity. When ingredients linger in the bottle, they can introduce tiny risks—like moisture or oxidation—that might shorten the oil’s shelf life or affect its pristine taste over time. We want every drop to stay as fresh as the day it was bottled!
 
That’s also why we pour our oils into dark green bottles. They’re not just stylish—they shield the oil from light, helping it stay vibrant and delicious for longer. We’re working on official shelf-life testing (stay tuned!), but in the meantime, we’re proud to offer a product designed with both flavor and durability in mind.
